Decade: 1980s
Advertising in the 1980s became more glamorous and yet, quite frankly, a bit dull. Quirky campaigns, creative graphic design, and interesting copy all but disappeared, as advertising became more about slapping some text over an artistic photograph.
That's not to say that the 80s were completely boring. Some of the most memorable ad campaigns emerged during this period, most notably Absolut and Joe Camel. But for the most part, 1980s advertising was nowhere on the level as it was in the past.
